Description

Not to be confused with Beau’s lines (which are horizontal grooves), longitudinal grooves are vertical grooves that are caused by trauma to a specific area of nail growth.

This could be via a cyst or wart. These are caused by diseases that affect the entire body, including malnutrition, heart attack (myocardial infarction), severe infections, and metabolic disturbances, including poorly controlled diabetes.

Is longitudinal grooves contagious?
No, "longitudinal grooves" is NOT contagious!
