Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes joints to become painful and stiff.

But in osteoarthritis, the protective cartilage on the ends of your bones breaks down, causing pain, swelling and problems moving the joint. Bony growths can develop, and the area can become inflamed (red and swollen).

Signs and symptoms for OSTEOARTHRITIS

Adjustments may be needed for joints (knees, elbows etc) Be aware if your client take medications, as it may interfere or affect the treatment.

Treatments cannot be performed over contraindicated areas.
Body Treatments
Pay attention to your client's mobility. If immobile you may need to use an armchair or a treatment couch.
Eye Treatments

Massages
Local massage and movement is contraindicated in the acute phases. • At other times, massage can be beneficial in providing some pain relief. • Gentle mobilisation of the joints may prevent further deterioration, provided extra care is taken around painful joints.
